My Students

Science should not be taught completely through textbooks! Help me make science real in my classroom.

My class is a fabulous group of first graders at a Virginia public school.

I love seeing the wonder in their eyes each day as we explore the world around them and develop connections with the things they experience. We are a high poverty school undergoing large budget cuts but our passion is still strong!

My Project

My students need materials to help them learn about the world around them. How can I teach them about the tools that scientist use without showing them and giving them the opportunity to use a microscope? How can we learn about plants and talk about roots without ever seeing roots grow? These materials will bring the concepts that we teach to life.

I appreciate your help in building inquisitive, scientific minds.

These materials will be reused from year to year and impact many students in the years to come. Help build the foundation for science in young students' lives.
