Our school is also one of the most ethnically diverse elementary schools in Dallas, with more than ninety percent on free lunch. Students speak a multitude of languages including English, Spanish, Hindi, Urdu, Bengali, Mandarin, Cantonese, and Arabic. As diverse as our students are economically and culturally, they are diverse in their academics. I teach the Functional Living Skills (special education class). My students all have intellectual disabilities, social and emotional disorders and verbal skills. We are classroom with an age range of six to twelve year olds.
All students want a chance to interact with lessons. For students with special needs it can be hard, because of mobility issues, communication and fine motor delays. Using a regular whiteboard they need to be able to use writing utensils, pointing stick, etc. and its frustrating for them and they don't want to participate.
Mimio Teach will give all my students a chance to interact with their learning.
This technology will allow my students who can not write or hold a pen use finger touch capability and my student who are not able to use a mouse and keyboard the opportunity to use the computer.
