My Students

I teach at a Title I school in Virginia. One hundred percent of my students receive free breakfast and lunch alongside facing hardships that they encounter at home. Many are from broken homes where there is only one parent, severe family illnesses, or their siblings/guardians are more so their caretaker.

My first grade babies make me smile each day and, with the right tools for teaching, they have the desire and ability to learn!

I am looking forward to building their background knowledge to help them become better readers, scientists, mathematicians, historians, and so much more to help them achieve their goals and go to first grade!

My Project

My students' kind hearts and willingness to try push me to be a better teacher and show up for them, day after day, no matter what.

This year looks a little different, but I know that each and every one of my scholars will find a home in my classroom, whether it be virtual or in-person.

I'm so excited to see my students grow as I support their learning! A new challenge to overcome during distance learning is finding age-appropriate virtual materials that will still make learning interactive and fun for my young students. While we have many engaging and interactive learning materials in our classroom, it is impossible for my students to use them while learning at home.
