I am a Speech Therapist who has been given the opportunity to work with Katrina evacuees. My caseload has increased by 25 students (from 50 to 75 students; in working with these students I have found that they respond to more interactive types of lessons. The type of interactive lessons I have found that suits my students is on the computer. The lessons are lively and captures their attention, thus causing them to stay focused on a lesson for a longer period of time. I would like to request 1 laptop computer so that I can reach more students at a time. With the laptops I will be able to teach and give my students more of a chance to learn with a mode of learning that best suits them. The laptops will not only benefit my students from Louisiana, they will also benefit my students that I have worked with for several years. Our school only provides laptops on a checkout basis , which limits my students opportunity to use the computers.
