My students need supplies such as colored pencils, glue, scissors, and post-its to engage with their interactive notebooks and hands on learning lessons.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students range from 6th to 8th grade. They come from a low income community, and do not always have the materials needed to succeed. Some whom just arrived to the country and are still trying to assimilate and understand the new culture and ways. Regardless, they apply themselves and strive for the best.
My students are a unique diverse mix of abilities and personalities.
Each one has something special to offer the class. They are dedicated and hard working, always applying themselves to the different challenges I place in front of them. I have seen remarkable progress in many of them. Students who arrived just 2-3 years prior reading, writing and discussing topics in class. Actively engaged in their own learning.
The students are mixed from those who have special needs to English Language Learners. They all provide a fresh perspective to the classroom. They enjoy innovative fun new ways to learn including hands on activities, engaging discussions where they can voice their opinions and discovering new themes and topics. They are dedicated, hard working, but most of all TRUE LEARNERS.
My Project
Just as each one of my students has a unique personality, they each have a unique learning style. Serving a diverse group of students can, at times, be challenging. Ensuring each one of their needs are met as well as engaging them throughout lessons and discoveries is a daily task. My students love hands on activities, and in an English Language Arts classroom this can be difficult to do. Therefore my students each have an interactive notebook! It is a fun way for them to organize their notes while having an activity to complete. These notebooks are colorful and are composed of foldables, worksheets and interactive activities right in their own notebook! It not only allows them to engage in the lesson, but it also assists in their organization and independent studying at home. In order to have these activities, my students need scissors, glue, colored pencils, colored paper, post its and markers. These materials allow them to personalize their notes, color coordinate to assist in studying and provides a new means to note taking,
