This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you remember being excited when you learned something new? Today, technology is a new learning essential. A tablet would make it possible for my first graders to improve their reading with this new interactive educational tool.

My English learning students attend a school located in a very low economical area and viewed as disadvantaged.

One hundred percent of our students receive free meals. We are a year around school. Many of our families struggle to make ends meet, therefore, having a luxury item like a tablet is nonexistent. The majority of my students only have access to technology when they are in school, making the tablet important to have in our classroom.

My Project

Reading can be challenging with English learners. With a tablet, I can download books of various levels for the students to listen and practice reading. This technology will allow them to gain more practice with phonics, fluency, and reading comprehension, and other various literacy applications. They will also use this educational tool to self-monitor their reading. It will provide them with more exposure to literature and help them enjoy reading.

Please help my first grade students have access to this tablet so that they will be able to compete in the world of technology.

This educational tool will benefit them today and in their future.
