My students have special needs and are quite behind their neurotypical peers. While my students are behind academically, I prefer to think of it as they have not gotten to where they need to be Yet. In just a few short months, my students have made great academic strides.
My students enjoy school and are always excited to participate in daily activities.
They enjoy singing and playing learning games and would benefit from using interactive software to enhance their learning of language, numbers, and science.
When my project is fully funded, I plan to reevaluate some of the practices I currently use in my classroom. I am embarrassed to admit that I have fallen into the worksheet trap with my precious Pre-K students. It is so important for them to learn through hands-on experiences and my project includes educational software in language arts, mathematics, and science that would allow them to learn by playing games and doing activities on the Smart Board.
I plan to incorporate use of this software into daily lessons in order to reinforce skills that my students are learning and to also encourage my students to interact with one another as they work together to play the games.
