It's hard to miss. Everywhere you look people of all ages are plugged into or attached to some sort of technologically savvy gadget. Help our classroom join the 21st century by updating our listening center & white board interactions.
My class consists of 31 first graders, who we call Scholars.
These munchkins cover a wide range of academic levels, making differentiation a must in my classroom! They attend a Back-to-Basic, California public school, that requires parent support and encourages community involvement. Although we have a wonderful Parent Club, we don't get a lot of money from funding or grants like Title I schools do. Therefore, our classrooms run on just the basics.
My Project
It's time to upgrade our listening center and create an interactive white board experience. Currently we have a broken listening center that only uses cassettes tapes and has spotty headphones. Using mp3 players, headphone splitters, new headphones, and audio books I can create a functioning listening center that every child benefit from. Students can increase their vocabulary, improve listening and comprehension skills, engage imagination, and increase their overall love of reading.
I am asking for a cassette to mp3 converter to convert the many books on tape I already have to mp3s. Having this converter will make the listening upgrade fast and easy to quickly implement because I already have the books to go with them!
Lastly, with the help of an Apple TV and an iPad mini I can create an interactive white board. With these items I can utilize the vast amount of online resources and apps to help manage and support my daily lessons, not to mention wirelessly!
Enough with the broken headphones, the large storage boxes, and untrustworthy boom box.
It's time to upgrade our ancient listening center to a functioning, more efficient mp3 listening center. Along with the listening center you will be helping us purchase our own interactive white board that is not only portable, but more economically sound. We will be able to use interactive online resources and applications, play educational games, share work, and work as a more cohesive, engaged group.
