I love seeing excitement on children's faces and in their eyes as they enter the classroom each day.
I want a classroom filled with exciting learning materials for hands-on learning. I want children to take chances to learn since they feel safe to take a chance. This didn't happen over night. Developing a trusting environment for these students to take risks while learning has been happening over the past two years.
My students will be risk-takers, creative problem-solvers, and collaborative workers. Many of these students will be coming from a low-socioeconomic background and will receive free or reduced-priced breakfast and lunch. I want them to have a love for learning in an academically fun-filled environment.
My Project
Students learn at different levels and at different times. Having differentiated levels of learning materials in the classroom allows learners to practice skills at the level they are at and build upon those skills to practice using higher level materials.
Students love to manipulate materials and learn while doing so.
The pattern block and tangram cards will allow my students to activate their fine motor skills while matching pieces to complete the pictures. The math activity cards and grab & go games will allow my students to practice a variety of skills throughout the year, whether it is pre-teaching skills or reteaching practice. The science cans are great for small groups of students and are high-interest. Students love to compete against each other in a fun way!
Reading and phonics skills vary greatly in primary classrooms. The phonics and language skills folders will allow my students to explore phonics patterns that may or may not follow the rules! Who doesn't love reading a high-interest story? My students love to learn and share what they read with me and their classmates. Engaged students and classrooms make the learning day fly by!
