Technology is becoming an important learning tool for education today.
My students currently don't have access to a computer or technology device in my classroom.
We have special education students, English Language Learner students, and general education students all in one classroom. With this being said, we have a variety of educational needs to be met. The demographics at my school are also changing. We have around 65% free and reduced lunch students. We are also a very transient building in that students move in and out on a daily basis. Many of my students don't have access to technology at home and I would like to create this positive learning environment with technology incorporated at school.
My Project
I have requested an Apple ipad mini for a tool to be used in my classroom by the students. By having the tablet at school, students will be able to use this at center time practicing both reading and math skills. I also have students that have difficulties writing, the tablet can be used as a writing source for them. I would also use the tablet to translate language with my ELL students. Most of the students come with little to no English and the tablet would be able to support communication in the classroom with both teachers and peers.
Donations for my project are important not only to me as a teacher, but mostly important for the success of my students.
It can be used throughout the entire day and in all areas of learning. It will support what is being taught, help communicate, and build confidence in students.
