Interactive Computer Games

My students need five interactive computer game CDs (e.g., Math Adventures CD-ROM) to help reinforce their learning in science, math, and reading.

My Students

My students are very excited about learning this year. They are especially excited about learning math, science, and how to read. Interactive games would engage students while allowing them to learn 21st-century skills.

I teach in a low-income, high-poverty school district within Oklahoma City.

Many of the students who come to my school speak English as a second language and/or have parents who are not able to help their children at home. My students come to school each day with smiles on their faces, ready to learn; and I want to provide them with the a strong foundation and a love of learning.

My Project

The five requested CDs hold curriculum-based, interactive computer games and will play a huge part in our reading, math, and science instruction, as well as calendar time. I will begin by building phonemic awareness with my students through the use of letter practice and computer software. What child doesn't love playing on the computer? The math games will allow students to practice their number recognition, number sense, geometry, and patterns. The science games will allow students to learn more about their five senses, nutrition, and seasons/weather. The circle time and calendar games will be a wonderful addition to our daily Calendar Time. Technology will be integrated throughout our day, and students will become more engaged in their learning. The interactive games will also provide my English Language Learners with extra skills they will need to become fluent in English.

Software in my classroom will create meaningful activities for students to work on so that I can be available to encourage, support, and guide individuals and small groups.

The interactive games can also be used whole group for team games. I don't have an interactive whiteboard, but I have a projector screen. I can put the game on the screen and students can touch the screen while I click the mouse, allowing the whole class to play, too.
