I teach preschool for a public school in Michigan. This is my second year teaching in this school district. Our preschool has a Highscope curriculum and we are a GSRP program which means we are state-funded. I do not get a classroom stipend to spend on items for the classroom each year. These children qualify for the GSRP preschool because they have factors that deem them to be at risk for success. These children have very stressful lives at home and need their classroom to be a safe, warm and friendly place to come learn and play.
My Project
Our school is very low on funds this year and we have been without bulletin board paper for a while now. I have had to spend my own money on bulletin board paper so my classroom will still look inviting to the students. All hallway bulletin boards are empty because teachers so not want to pay more money for the paper to decorate them. Our students work should be displayed for families to see. I would also love to begin doing interactive bulletin boards for my preschoolers to learn with. I think it would be a great way to get them interested in topics is a new and exciting way.
