This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Many students with autism face unique challenges in accessing traditional classroom materials due to sensory sensitivities, learning differences, and varying levels of language development. By utilizing adapted and interactive books—designed to be visually engaging, interactive, and aligned with students’ individual needs—we can create a more inclusive and supportive learning environment.
Having a variety of interactive books will significantly enhance the literacy experiences of my K-2 students with autism, fostering greater engagement, comprehension, and communication abilities through play.
The interactive books will also provide essential scaffolding for my students to connect with reading in ways that are fun, interactive, and tailored to their sensory and developmental needs. Investing in these tools will have a profound impact on their academic journey, setting the foundation for success in literacy and beyond.
