Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am an Early Childhood Special Education teacher working with 6-12 preschool students diagnosed with autism, sensory processing disorder, speech and language delay and multiple-handicaps with low cognitive skills. As a result of schools shutting down physical buildings, I have been seeing my students via video streaming sessions. Some of my students are non-speaking or have limited speech. However, that does not hinder them to reach their best potential in participating with the use of personalized hands-on materials and basic supplies.

My goal is to provide an online classroom for my students that is welcoming, exciting, engaging and offers opportunities for exploration, and prepares my students for future academic success.

My students are lacking these hands-on resources in their homes, and I would like to provide them an interactive and engaging file folders and or binders this coming distance learning school year of 2020-2021.

My Project

Help me give my Early Childhood Special Education students the gift of Interactive and Engaging Hands-on File Folders and or Binders during the distance learning program. The use of individual folders and or binders that has colorful and engaging hands-on activities is part of students' daily routine in our classroom, particularly during independent work time. By providing colorful, interactive adapted books with games, basic pre-academic skills will not only help each of my students but also support home structure with guidance through distance learning.

One advantage of having interactive resources of colorful and engaging file folders and or binders at home is that it can be easily access even without the use of internet, promote independence, and also can be shared with multiple students.

I would also like to get more interactive resources for my students through Teachers Pay Teachers (TPT), so they will be able to activate prior acquired knowledge and achieve fluency on targeted skills. Other than our daily virtual sessions, my students and their families will be able to work together using hands-on interactive file folders and or binders.
