it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I am an Adaptive Physical Education teacher in The Bronx servicing special needs students in three k-5 schools. I do not have my own space for my students, I am usually teaching in hallways or cafeterias with no access to smart boards or other technology. Because of this, my students are not afforded the space and technology the general education PE students have access to. I am also not allocated a school issued laptop, making it difficult to run my class appropriately. I am asking for donations in order to acquire a Chromebook for use during my lessons.
Having a Chromebook to use during my lessons will allow for several things.
Many of my students are visual learners so being able to put my lessons on Google Slides will be a great help to them. I will have quick access to the demonstration and motivational videos I create for my students. A Chromebook will allow our class to have access to all the amazing lessons and activities that the physical education community shares on various websites. I will also be able to do interactive activities with my cognitively impaired students using the touch screen of the Chromebook. Lastly, with the use of the Chromebook, I will be able to track and share my students progress with their gross motor skills and I will also use the Chromebook to work on the students Individual Education Plans.
I have seen what a difference technology makes with students in all subject areas. I want to be able to provide and appropriate, active and engaging Adaptive Physical Education class for my students. Access to a Chromebook will be a huge help for my students. Thank you for your consideration!
