Interacting With Math and Reading

Help me give my students hands-on fraction manipulatives, linking centimeter cubes, guided reading strips and other supplies that will help my students in both reading and math.

My Students

My students work incredibly hard to master skills. They are willing to try new things and ask many questions. Their ability to think through different issues and discuss deeper topics inspires me every day.

I know that the right materials will help my students continue to learn, grow and excel in skills that will help them in and out of the classroom.

I want to be able to help my students develop critical thinking skills in the safe environment of my classroom. There's nothing I love more than assisting my students as they work through different skills and come out victorious.

My Project

My students will thrive with hands on materials that will bring learning to life. They will be able to use the dry erase pockets and markers to interact with a variety of assignments in reading and math, such as group learning experiences and whole class responses. Being a clear pocket will allow them to be reused for many purposes and a variety of responses. Students will be able to use the reading strips in both personal reading and reading instruction to help focus on the words. They will be especially helpful for those students who have reading challenges. The timers will help students manage time in small and whole group settings.

Hands-on math activities help students transfer concrete ideas to abstract concepts.

They will be able to use the fraction bars to see how to multiply fractions in real, concrete ways before learning the abstract skills. Students will be able to use the linking cubes to visualize area, perimeter and volume of real life objects. The sticky notes will be used to provide opportunities for students to respond and show their understanding of new skills and topics. The stamps and ink pads will enable students to receive more immediate feedback on assignments and allow that feedback to be taken home.

These materials will be used to teach many math and literacy content standards. For example, the fraction manipulatives will be used to support the current supplies we have to expand fraction manipulatives from simply adding and subtracting to multiplying fractions.
