Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Boys and Girls, This week for independent worktime enters you will be able to use an iPad. "YAY!!!" "Hurray!!" "YES!!!" Today we will be able to take our creative stories and publish them into a book. "YAY!!!" "Hurray!!" "YES!!!" I love when my students are excited to learn.

My class is made up of 22 creative, intelligent, caring, and hard-working second graders.

These students are from many different backgrounds and have different interests and abilities but the one thing they have in common is their thirst for knowledge and their desire to express themselves creatively. The items I have requested will allow them to quench their thirst and exhibit their individual creativity.

My Project

The students will be able to use the iPads we already have at school regularly because we will be able to keep them in the classroom at all times rather than return them to the iPad cart in the office. The headphones will allow for the students to read books and interact with online learning games. The possibilities are endless. The blank books will be a treat for the students. After the go through the writing process to create many stories throughout the year, they will get the chance to choose one to "publish" in the blank story book. This will hopefully become a treasured memory of their time in second grade.

This project will make a difference because the students will have access to technology that can support their learning.

During the time I work with students in small groups to assist them with individual needs, the other students will have access to iPads in a rotation to assist them with their needs. The books will be and end of the year culminating project for writing and in my past experience will be meaningful to them in the future as well as to their parents and family members.
