Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are a group of fun-loving fourth graders who come from low socioeconomic status families in a racially diverse community. They are eager to explore and try new things, despite them not having much opportunity to do so. Many of them are first-generation Americans and are the first in their family to aspire to go to college.
The community rallies around the students to help them succeed.
Many of my students are trying to become first-generation college students. They live in a community where English is their second language. I have students from all over Latin America and Asia. Most of my students qualify for free or reduced lunch and it is my job to help close the achievement gap and meet their academic needs.
My Project
Thanks to DonorsChoose.org and wonderful coworkers, I have been provided with countless math and science books and resources. Amongst these resources are STEM books, math manipulatives, individual whiteboards, and other math and science resources that help me facilitate the learning process for my students.
My students and I need the IntelliScanner organizational scanning system that will keep our materials safe and accounted for all while holding our students accountable for materials taken home.
Many of my students benefit from taking home books that keep them engaged in learning or manipulatives that help them do math. The problem is that often times materials are lost and therefore future students will not get to benefit from the awesome resources. The Intelliscanner will help ensure that these resources be used fully. The Intelliscanner asset tags will be put on the books and manipulatives to keep inventory on them.
