My Students

I am a National Board Certified teacher in Literacy. I work at a Title I elementary school. Many of my students come from military families due to our location near several bases. Our school is diverse with learning styles, cultures, and interests. My students are hardworking, creative, critical thinkers. My students are future artists, inventors, authors, and natural leaders. Success is at their fingertips and I know that with the right learning environment I will nurture each and every one of them.

My Project

Students will be introduced to robotics using the Cubelets. They will study the basic components of robots (sense, think, act) in a fun, hands‐on, and experiential way.Students will observe iRobot Roomba and discuss what IRobot does that demonstrates it senses its environment, thinks about what to do, and then responds with an action.

While students observe and understand behavior they build scientific skills relevant to biology, psychology, robotics, and artificial intelligence and develop general critical thinking ability related to scientific inquiry, categorization, considering properties and characteristics, and prediction.

Students will develop their critical thinking skills as they build robots using the Cubelets. Students will have a better understanding of cause and effect because they will investigate the relationship between actions and results through their hands-on experience.
