My students need an iPad to help provide them with video feedback as they are learning locomotive skills, view lesson and unit introductions, and as a tool for assessments.
I have 330 students to whom I teach elementary physical education at my school. Beginning with the 2018-2019 school year our 2nd-6th-grade students will have access to Chromebooks in their homeroom classrooms but I would like to increase technology usage in physical education to help enhance my physical education curriculum. Currently, my students have no technology access during physical education. My passion is physical education and showing students how to live healthy and active lives. I also want to show students that they can incorporate learning from their classroom into my physical education classroom.
The school I teach at is located in Southeast Missouri.
The majority of my students live in poverty and have limited access to educational technology. I teach PK-6th-grade elementary students as well as one high school fitness class. I have my PK-2nd-grade students twice a week and my 3rd-6th-grade students once a week. My students love physical education and the new educational technology that has been introduced to our school. Since my students love PE and technology, my goal is to provide students with both in my class.
My Project
This iPad will be used in many ways within my PE classroom to help incorporate technology into my PE curriculum. With this iPad, I will be able to show students introductions to new lessons/unit that I previously have not been able to do through the use of a projector. This iPad will also allow for more constructive feedback for students as I can show them video performance of locomotive skills learned. Not only will students be able to receive feedback verbally they will now be able to see themselves in action visually. Students can also use this iPad to demonstrate learning by making videos using educational technology learned from other classes.
Through the use of this iPad, my students will be able to be more creative within my PE classroom.
I believe incorporating educational technology into my PE curriculum will get even more students engaged and eager to participate in PE which in return will promote healthy lifestyles.
