This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

What I love about my students is their passion for learning. Regardless of the obstacles they face, both academically and/or at the home front, they never give up. A truly commendable attitude. That type of perseverance is what is so inspiring to an educator like myself and hopefully to you as well. I hope my students realize that they are my true inspiration for becoming the best teacher that I can be. What an honor it is to be an educator.

My Project

Being an elementary teacher now for ten years, I have witnessed the struggles students have with literacy. When you think about it, all subjects require strong literacy skills. Science is no different, with it’s challenging content, this subject requires strong reading, writing, and comprehension skills in order to master the content. Building this classroom library will help my students practice the literacy skills needed to thrive academically. With your help,​ these materials will make a difference in their learning. Not only will they enjoy reading these non-fiction and fiction texts, they also will be building upon advancing the very skills needed for academic success, not only in science but in all core subjects.
