Integrating Reading with iPads

My students need 4 iPad minis with cases to increase their love of reading and math in order to gain knowledge of the world.

My Students

As a Special Ed. teacher, I want to build the love of reading in my students. Reading is like a key that unlocks the door to the mysteries of the world, and to a struggling reader there are many roadblocks in the way of enjoying a good read such as not having many resources to get there!

I only get to work for a short amount of time each day (maybe 30 min.) with students that have the most need in schools.

My students have disabilities in attention, health, developmental delays, language difficulties, and other specific learning disabilities. Giving them more opportunities and resources to learn to read will increase their chance of success in life.

My Project

These iPads will be used to help students access a wealth of reading material and a variety of resources. This will allow them to build learning at any level of reading and at their own pace. With these iPads students will readily access reading resources and apps that will target their personal learning level and goal, as well as grabbing their interest with current reading materials.

All students deserve to be exposed to technology and have a love of reading.

Special ed. students dread learning to read because they know they are behind and they feel self-conscious in their classrooms. This project would help to build confidence as well as determination in my struggling students and maybe even a love of reading.
