My Students

Passive learning is outdated. Students today have become genuinely disengaged in geography when they can't relate the content to the real world. My classes tie in real world scenarios along with arts integration projects that truly impact their everyday life to enhance excitement in my classroom.

I love my school, I love my students and they love Art.

I am a committed Baltimore City Public School teacher that is willing to work hard to be a great teacher, however, I cannot do it alone. We are a Title I Targeted Assistance School that ninety-nine percent of my students are African American from many diverse backgrounds including including English Language Learners, military families to single families. These factors don't phase them; I see each and every one of them working to get the most out of the classroom. Despite significant challenges, they work hard to make themselves the best they can be in our City School District. This Arts integration project would take my class to the next level, I'm sure it would have the whole school talking. Will you help us?

My Project

My students work hard each and everyday and I work hard to make my geography class fun. I have done many arts integration projects, but need your help to make this one become a reality. By receiving the drone, the students in my class will be able to apply their knowledge of map elements and basics to take aerial shoots captured with the drone and so their arts and geography skills by creating a map of the image captured on paper.

Art integration has really helped my geography class to explore the community they live in, but I want to take it to the next level.

The drone will come in handy when we take it on trips with us and get permission to fly it over historical sites that can help us get a better understanding of the grounds we are exploring and learning about. By capturing these moments and those around the school, they can be edited and produced by the students and shown to the whole school. The drone would be used by my middle school students to conduct their own field study of topics related to the geography course I teach. They would take the information gathered to create drawings of maps and produce videos with footage they captured. This all will be able to be done without leaving school grounds and being out the students true artistic abilities. Surely will make my class the one all the students and teachers are talking about, bringing much more excitement to the area of study and the arts. I believe it is time to take our classroom to the next level and fly the friendly sky by combining geography and the Arts, with your help. The donations will benefit the over 175 students that I teach tremendously.
