My Project

Integrating science and art offers a multidimensional approach to understanding the environment, enriching students’ understanding of science concepts in several ways. Art allows students to connect with the science content and provides them with an opportunity to express their perspectives and emotions.

As students learn about ecosystems in our final unit second semester, students will have an opportunity to incorporate their science content while learning about artistic methods.

Students will have an opportunity to choose an artistic medium (the use of Play Doh, paint pens, paint, and more) to express their vision of an ecosystem they are learning about. Students will be able to explore environmental issues to help inspire innovative solutions to environmental challenges. This will be followed by a “Gallery Walk” in which students will have an opportunity to explore how their classmates chose to express their ideas.
