Hands-on technology, science and engineering tools make all the difference. These tools will help make learning fun and easy.
I teach first grade in a Title One school in Utah.
It's a high-needs school where over 75 percent of the students live in poverty. We also receive students from a nearby homeless shelter. I chose to teach here because its where I can make a difference. Often I'm the only good thing in my student's day. Many of my students are also English language learners and because of this they need extra support and a more creative means of instruction.
My Project
These hands-on materials will help my students use the tools that we do have in a more productive way. We are going to use the styluses on iPads to help students to practice their writing and the K'nex and Legos to build their engineering skills. The science kit will enable my students to have hands-on access to science materials. It's amazing what a hands-on experience can do for the learning experience of one child.
This is an amazing opportunity that you have to help make a difference in the lives of these students.
My students have begun with so little, let's give them the technology, science and engineering tools they need to move them in the right direction!
