My Students
Did you ever struggle to learn in school? Researchers have discovered that arts integration has a particularly positive effect upon at-risk students. My kindergarten students are labeled at-risk due to their socioeconomic status and in many cases, the absence of a preschool education.
My Project
I teach kindergarten in a Title I school, that is located in a very low socioeconomic, urban neighborhood. This year I have 27 students in my kindergarten class. All students receive free breakfast and lunch at school. My students are sweet, enthusiastic learners with a wide variety of learning styles. Most of my students come from homes that struggle to provide daily necessities and therefore, they do not have opportunities at home to do creative and imaginative art projects with their families.
