This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are overjoyed to sing. Each grade level has their own program, so during my class we spend time preparing for their programs. In between, I try to teach my students about famous composers to expand their musical knowledge beyond what is merely heard on the radio.

About 98% of my students come from economically disadvantage homes, but don't let that make you think they are not talented singers.

My students have some of the most beautiful voices I have ever heard. They absolutely love to sing and even after their programs are complete, they are constantly singing their songs. Our school and community are very supportive of our music program and love to come watch our grade level musical programs.

My Project

I have requested DVD's and videos about famous composers for music instruction. I have also requested some Meet the Great Composers: Classroom Kits. With these resources, my students will be able to learn about famous composers more in depth than what I can merely pull off the Internet or YouTube. My students will be able to hear the music from these composers and learn about why they may have written the particular pieces.

Your donation to this project will greatly help my music class because I am lacking CD's and books to teach my students.

By using these resources, I can further introduce my students to the great works of some of the world's most famous composers. This will expand their musical knowledge beyond what they listen to at home or hear on the radio.
