My Students
I have a wonderful school full of students ranging from Kindergarten to Fifth Grade. My students come from backgrounds of all kinds, giving our music room a touch of culture from all over. In music class we love to sing, dance, play instruments, and explore music of all times, origins, and cultures.
My students are creative performers who love to explore the world of music through instruments, dance, and singing.
Our school has a reputation for school performances of all kinds including; PTA nights, School Musicals, All County Chorus, and Holiday Concerts. At our elementary school, our students come to music excited to explore music through creative and innovative ways. Each student offers individuality, personality, character, and their own dynamic, but together we are one imaginative and creative school!
My Project
The rhythm sticks, mallets, hand drums, and claves will get our music classroom instrument inventory closer to a 1-1 student-instrument ratio. When we return to school, our classroom will need to have multiple sets of certain instruments so that students can use the instruments and then they can be properly cleaned before use by another group of students. Without the rhythm sticks, mallets, hand drums, and claves, all students will not have the opportunity to play an instrument every class. This is a fundamental part of our classroom that every student deserves.
All of these instruments offer students more time on an instrument, a 1-1 ratio of instruments-students, and the unforgettable experience of learning about and playing music from around the world!
The other instruments, such as the talking drum, doumbek, cajon, and cow bell offer students a glimpse into another culture and the opportunity to grow their horizon of music from around the world. With these instruments, students can more easily learn about cultures from West Africa, the Caribbean, and so many other destinations. These instruments also help facilitate small ensemble groups and drumming circles that are an important addition to our music program.
