Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our classroom is an incredibly diverse place, with children who have many different learning and language needs. On a typical day in our classroom, you might find students engaged in multi-sensory instruction, grouped in a variety of ways, learning 7th grade math in a fun but critical way.
My students may still be learning English, they may have diverse learning needs, and they may come from families with low-income, but my students deserve an exciting, interesting, and engaging learning environment.
At my school we are supportive of a very diverse population, with a high percentage of special needs and English language-learners, many of whom come to school each day from homes that struggle to support them financially.
While the school is a safe space for these students to receive a quality education, resources are difficult to attain for a truly rich instructional environment. It is my hope that I can provide for these students and continue to use these supplies for future school years to come.
My Project
As a Special Educator in an inclusive setting, and with state testing fast-approaching, it is essential for my students to have access to multiple modes of instruction and learning activities. The materials listed are primarily intended to help support differentiated instruction in our classroom. The resources requested will aid in small group instruction and test preparation.
Chart paper, Markers, and printer ink and paper are all intended to support flexible and adaptive instruction for a group of diverse learners. The students will be thrilled to be able to show their mathematical work on the whiteboards.
The chromecast will be used buy students to wirelessly transmit mathematical work from a classroom tablet to the projector screen, a very exciting technological improvement to our classroom in lieu of a smartboard!
Fraction towers- This math manipulative will benefit students who require a tactile, visual model to meet the learning goals of the 7th grade curriculum.
