This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school is a Public Montessori school in which our students start by learning practical life skills which they will use in everyday life. Our students are an amazing group of 3 - 6 year olds. They stay in our classroom for a three year cycle. The relationships that they develop are inspiring.

Our students come to us from an urban environment in which resources run scarce and teachers have to find imaginative ways to engage our students.

Most of our students are eligible for free or reduced lunches; however, they come to school eager to learn.

My Project

How do you discover the joy of reading? Well, start by finding wonderful books. I am requesting a set of The King School leveled books for levels A-C. These books will be used during guided reading with a group of 4-5 children. During this time, students will have small group instruction as they master good reading habits.

The King School Series is an ethnically diverse collection of leveled books for beginning readers.

This series provides engaging relatable stories with real life situations. The books have common sight words and lively illustrations that help students to figure out unknown words. They are the perfect addition to our kindergarten guided reading library.

By donating to this project, you can help me to continue to nurture the joy of reading, an activity that is vital to their future education.
