This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Remember laying back and losing yourself in book? Or even going to the school library to hear a story being read? Well my students are currently being deprived of these luxuries due to current economic times.
My 3rd graders work hard everyday practicing their reading but they lack the opportunity to really sit back and get lost in a chapter book.
Our school library has been closed this year since we lost funding for a library aide so I'm taking on the task of creating a book nook with your generous help.
Most of my students come from homes where they never get a space to call their own and I'm trying to change that. This book nook will serve as a reading oasis from the harsh reality they live everyday. Please help them find the love of reading most of us took for granted as kids.
My Project
A colorful reading carpet will set the stage. Three comfy bean bags to give a break from the hard chairs they sit in for hours on end. A set of organizational bins to keep it nice and a CD of read-alongs to complete the library.
This mini-makeover will transform our current library into a reading wonderland and bring smiles to my very deserving students.
Everyday I ask my students to read but it seems like a chore to many of them.
They know how to read but many haven't discovered the joy of reading. I just want the opportunity to instill the love of reading to this generation that I got to experience. Be a hero and please donate today!
