This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My amazing students are mostly newcomers to this country from all over the world. I teach English Language Development (ELD) at a Title I school in Los Angeles. Students come from very low economic backgrounds.

They are my school kids and they are beyond amazing.

Every day, I am humbled by my kids' kindness, strength, and resilience. Some work up to 40 hours a week to help their families pay for rent and food. With all the difficulties they have endured, they come to class with a huge smile on their faces. I'm constantly thinking of ways to make them feel welcome and have a sense of belonging. I remember when I was new here as a teen and just try to make it easier for them.

My Project

I would love to use the Fujifilm camera to document the amazing projects, collaborative work that students produce in my French, Italian and English Learners classes, and to display pictures of students working together to create awesome activities. Instant pictures to create instant memories! We will display pictures all over the classroom, and I will give students pictures to take home and share with families. Thanks so much for supporting my class. We are very grateful for the generous donations.
