Inspiring Young Minds: Incentives to Ignite EOG Success

Help me give my students the encouragement they need to stay motivated, focused, and confident as they prepare for the EOG tests and celebrate their hard work.

My Project

As the only school counselor for over 450 students in a high-needs community, I work with children who face many challenges at home and school. Many of my students come from young families with limited educational resources, and they often struggle with self-confidence. As their counselor, I strive to help them build self-esteem and stay motivated in their learning. With the End of Grade (EOG) tests approaching, many students are feeling anxious and discouraged due to previous academic struggles. To help them stay focused and motivated, I’m requesting donations for small incentives such as trinkets and candy.

Some students have been actively involved in selecting the items for this incentive system, including fancy pens, mini motivational notebooks, slime, Blow Pop suckers, mini bouncing balls, mini highlighters, and bubbles.

The reward system will allow students to earn points based on their effort and participation, which they can use to "buy" these items. On the day of the test, I will place encouragement cards on their desks to help boost their confidence and provide a sense of support.

These small but meaningful rewards will help reinforce positive behaviors such as staying on task, participating in class, and demonstrating perseverance. When students are recognized for their hard work, it boosts their self-esteem and motivates them to keep pushing forward. This system will not only support their academic growth but also encourage them to take pride in their efforts and continue working toward their goals.
