This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My class is composed of 55 fifth graders in a general education class, with students with IEP and ELL learners and special education students, such as autism.
A typical day in my classroom looks active.
My students are engaged in learning activities that get them moving, talking to their peers, and asking great questions. You will not see a lot of worksheets in my classroom. My students are learning through hands-on experiences.
I teach in a Title I school.
My fifth-grade students come from very diverse families. I am excited to share that my school is a genuinely diverse community. Not only do students come from varying ethnic backgrounds and places, but the life experiences that they’ve had are incredibly unique. My scholars are creative, thoughtful, and full of excitement!
My students are 9 and 10-year children that love coming to school. When school was closed in the spring of 2020 due to the pandemic not only were the kids wanting to come back, but we missed seeing their smiling faces every day.
My Project
"Wingardium Leviosa" ... "Silencio"... "reparo"..."geminio"..."Accio" being able to duplicate my love of reading to my students is something I would love to achieve. I am asking for Harry Potter graphic novels to achieve this. I would love to provide my students with a comfortable area to read. A comfortable nook area with multiple copies of Harry Potter books will help achieve this.
I am very excited for this project because this is a dream project.
My students' needs are important to me. I love to have an impact on their lives; with your help I can make this dream come true. Literacy is very difficult and students are not motivated into reading. I want to change this perspective. This is why I am requesting a decoration and book set of Harry Potter. I want my students to immerse themselves in the reading. This classroom transformation will take the students to Hogwarts, and the decor and props will allow them to experience Quidditch, and Hagrid and his magical creatures, and the wonder of Diagon Alley.
Many students have not had a chance to select books from a classroom library in a year and a half. The library is an important part of the classroom as it allows students the independence to select books of their level and interest.
My project will help students become successful and enthusiastic readers—with specially selected books for every reading level!
Studies show that students learn more when they are engaged, and classroom transformations are a growing way to get students more enthusiastic about school. Please help my students emerge themselves in literature.
