My Students
Many of my students have enjoyed high-interest book clubs this year and I want to continue this journey! I teach two groups of students reading and writing. They have big hearts and love helping others!
Even though my classes are not very diverse, I want them to experience diversity through literature.
I want them to see how the power of words and actions can impact their community and the world. I want to bring more awareness to a variety of social issues and help them discover their passions and interests to make our world a better place.
My Project
We will be ending our school year focusing on responding to inequality. While we are reading about the women's suffrage movement as a whole class and working on a student-led food drive to help our local community, I want to be able to offer inspiring tales of young people overcoming obstacles and following their passions.
I want to offer a variety of book club choices to my students that will inspire them to contribute to a better world.
I believe these stories will inspire them to follow their passions, develop empathy for the world we live and raise awareness to complex issues in today's world like racism, immigration, climate change, and gender equality. I also have included an inspiring read-aloud that we will read and discuss parts throughout the project.
