Students have been wondering about and investigating pets and how to care for them after reading I Want 100 Dogs and This Story is Not About a Kitten. We learned about the life cycle of an oak tree from the fun book, Acorn Was a Little Wild, and compared it to the life cycle of a squash in another book in our library. Students laughed through I Cannot Draw a Horse and had a chance to practice drawing many of the characters in the book using the author's website as a guide. I look forward to sharing the rest of the books and doing related activities from January through March. Students love all the books and also check out books related to the books so it is easy to see how these books are supporting and encouraging a love of reading and learning.
