My Project
COVID-19 has hindered my students from learning and experiencing how to socially relate to, communicate, and build relationships and connections with one another. It has been a challenge to for them to develop these skills. I have found that computer science can foster relationship building. It provides challenges that students can overcome together in teams. It promotes communication, critical thinking, and strengthens relationships as students face set backs and solve problems together. Your generous donation will supply our classroom for years to come with 3 Windows laptops, which is needed to run the program for our desktop SMART Farms (a farm management training kit). Currently, our school has Chromebooks for our students. Students will learn to manipulate the code to regulate the temperature, humidity, lighting, pump, fan, and more to optimize possible growth within the SMART Farm. They will strengthen and create positive relationships through this process. Mahalo to the Hawai'i Department of Education for helping our class to build connections with each other that will last them a life time!
