I have 25 amazing and busy first grade kiddos this year. My kids love to learn and are hard workers. While we have everything we need, these supplies would help our classroom become a more comfortable and fun place to learn for my active class.
I teach in a Title I school, where 100% of our students receive free breakfast, lunch, and supper.
Despite the economic hardships of our community, my students are eager to learn and do their best. They come ready to learn each day with a great attitude. They support each other and look out for each other. By offering new and different ways to learn, students will be more successful.
My Project
One of my favorite subjects is reading, and I try to find as many ways to share that love with my students as I can. One of the best ways to inspire students is to help them find books that they love. Since we do not have a school library, it is extremely important for me to introduce the kids to as many incredible authors as I can. These books would allow us to do author studies of books by Josh Funk and Ame Dyckman as well as add to other book collections we have.
When students love books, they learn to read.
These new books will not only make kids laugh but spark a love of reading that will help them persevere through learning to read.
