Inspiring Novels and New Non-Fiction

Help me give my students amazing examples of non-fiction books and a class set of the literary classic ¨The Little Prince¨.

My Students

Do you remember getting scholastic book orders as a child? Think of the anticipation and excitement you felt waiting for and then finally receiving the books you had ordered. It was all so new and fresh. My students are going to be re-discovering that joy in High School with my classroom library of French books.

My students are creative, avid readers, and enthusiastic learners.

Students at my school are inquisitive, compassionate, and creative. As French language learners, books are so important to my students and are truly valued. My classroom library is an essential resource for my students. My do not have access to French books at home and rely on our my library to check out high-quality books. Each year students inquire when the newest books will be added to the library and if they can be first to check out these books. I go to France and Quebec each year to purchase books but I do not want them to have to wait that long for new reading material.

My Project

Research tells us that students learn new vocabulary most efficiently from voluntary reading about topics they enjoy. The best way to make sure this happens in my classroom is to have lots of different books for them to choose from.

The Little Prince is one of the most inspiring novels in the history of children´s literature and will greatly enrich my French 3 students.

Non-fiction books attract many students who do not enjoy other types of novels or fiction.

I have chosen to ask for help with these items to help my students love French and acquire the language through comprehensible input.
