Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

One of the things that I admire most about young children is that they are able see the world with new and open eyes. I love to see the world through their eyes, and I enjoy watching their reactions to the things they encounter. Young children take in the world both visually and through other stimuli each moment of the day as part of their growing and learning process. But from all of this stimuli, they are still able to pull the best from what they experience and see the world as wonderful. This is so exciting to me! I wanted to have a hand in helping to create within my students a positive and encouraged world view. I plan to transform my classroom into a calm, inviting space that sparks joy creativity and focus; by decorating with nature inspired elements in pastel colors and popular fiction book characters like Elephant and Piggy.

I want my students to long to walk into our classroom each day and be thankful, inspired and motivated by their learning environment. I want to design a loving space for my students that screams “I respect you, I care for you and I admire you, so let’s have loads of fun learning together this year.” As a teacher, I model various socio-emotional behaviors for my students everyday, but equally as important is how I set up my classroom and how it is decorated. These aspects have a direct impact on how young children respond to and integrate into their learning environment and ultimately how they see themselves as learners.
