My Students

A good book should leave you... slightly exhausted at the end. You live several lives while reading it. ~William Styron, interview, Writers at Work, 1958

I teach a group of inspired 5th grade students in a large urban public school in Illinois.

One of my main goals is to foster a love of reading in my students so that they can acquire the skills and passion to learn about any topic they find interesting in life. To do that I need books and lots of them!

My Project

I am asking for a variety of books for my students to read independently. These books cover a wide range of topics, genres, and interests and will appeal to both boys and girls so that there is something for everyone. Because we have no library at our school I need to be able to give my students many book choices to ensure that they are excited about reading. This will then snowball into a lifelong love of reading! Just imagine my students cuddled up on the carpet all engaged in stories donated by YOU!

Ensuring that my students have the life-long literacy skills that they need to be successful in this world is one of my highest priorities in the classroom.

I cannot do that without donors like you who provide quality current literature that students are interested in and excited to read. Please consider making this very important donation today.
