My Students

I teach in a low-income school in southwest Virginia. My students come to school each day so eager to learn and explore new things. They are a very active group of students with lots of questions! Many of my students have rough home lives and it so important for me to provide them with a safe and fun environment! Summer can be a scary time for these students because it comes with a lot of change and uncertainty. I would love to provide my students with materials to continue to learn and play during the summer months!

My Project

During the school year, we have worked really hard to grow our reading skills and get excited about learning! I want my students to have an opportunity to get new books and toys to help their learning and creativity to grow during the summer.

Play is so important to help grow little minds, and these items will bring so much joy to students who often don't get new things.

Magic Tree House is one of my class’ favorite set of books and I know they would love to have their own copy. These bubbles, chalk, and sand buckets will help engage and get them outdoors! I am hoping that the pens will encourage them to write to me about their summer activities and continue to build their literacy skills.
