This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Preparing our students to be Global Citizens is of high priority. We have been a Dual Language school for now 17 years. We are proud of our enthusiastic learners who are always ready to be challenged. They bring so much positive energy into the classroom, which only pushes me to want to do more for them.

My students are always up for the challenge and ready to explore new ideas.

Many of them have such amazing goals and it makes me proud that at such a young age they begin to think about their future. My students want to further their education and pursue careers that will hopefully impact our lives in a positive manner.

Finding authentic and fun Spanish chapter books is hard to do. I want to get my students excited about reading and practicing their second language. Teaching in a Dual Language class means that my students are applying their comprehension skills in both languages. This chapter book: El único e incomparable Iván, will be an excellent addition to our collection. It will contribute in helping expand their Spanish comprehension skills but also cover social-emotional learning. The main theme of this books is about freedom vs captivity. With this book, I will bring in lessons regarding animals and helping to take care of our planet.
