Inspiring Eager 5th Graders

My students need science review games, scissors, and a book shelf to display science related classroom books and magazines.

My Students

Every day I have the opportunity of teaching Science to 3 fifth grade classes. I pride myself in providing my students a variety on learning tasks to meet their individual learning styles.

My school is a Title 1 school located in a rural setting.

I have 3 diverse groups of eager 5th graders, totaling 88 students. My students have a variety of different backgrounds. They are multi-cultured, different socio-economic status', and different ability levels. Our classes are heterogeneously mixed with Academically Gifted, Exceptional Needs, and average students. To meet the new curriculum guidelines, my students complete many hands-on activities, small group projects, as well as direct instruction.

My Project

I am hoping to have some much needed supplies funded for my classroom. I would like a book rack to display science-related books and magazines for the students to read. The science bingo games and Hot Cards set will great resources to help review content that we have learned in class. The scissors are needed to be able to continue having classroom projects that correlate with our curriculum.

Additionally, the nonfiction books and science magazines that I have for my students will be more accessible and more appealing to them when they are displayed on the new revolving book rack.
