This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Albert Einstein said, "Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow. The important thing is to not stop questioning."
My students attend an elementary school in New York City--in an area with a very high concentration of poverty.
Most, if not all, of my students qualify for free or reduced price lunch.
Our fourth graders are an inquisitive group of students who are hungry for knowledge and still ask, "Why?"
My Project
Presently there are millions of people that don't have access to clean drinking water. The ecoSTEM water kit will be instrumental in having my students not only observe and collect data on the water cycle, but have them think about and work to solve this real-world problem affecting millions of people around the world. The other ecoSTEM kits will help them observe decomposition with the see-through compost container and give them opportunities to get their hands in the soil by planting seeds that will provide food and shelter for pollinators in our community garden.
Ann Fairbairn said, "Why-why-why!... Ask it of everything your mind touches, and let you mind touch everything!"
With your funding, the water, earth, energy and pollination ecoSTEM's kits will enable my students to extend their knowledge and skills about environmental science issues in a hands-on way!
