My classroom is made up of 20 inner city Kindergarten students from various backgrounds and cultures. All of my student receive free breakfast and lunch.
Within my classroom I have students who speak 6 different languages.
This includes two student who spoke no English prior to starting school and multiple students who have very limited English skills. Half of the students in my class had no prior school experience before starting Kindergarten. Many of them are considered at risk and have limited home resources.
My Project
Over the past few years I have worked hard to fill my classroom library with great books for my students to read. Now they need some comfy and inviting places to read. I would love to add some bean bag chairs and a listening center to our library area to make it even more enticing for my students.
I would also like to add some materials to our science center to make the students feel more like "real" scientists.
Some basic things like magnifying glasses, safety goggles, and eye droppers are items we can use all year during all of our science units.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
