My Students

My 2nd Grade students are eager to learn and love to be involved with their learning.

They are especially motivated by technology and all that it has to offer. The access my students have to learning applications vary from student to student. I would like to level the playing field by making this innovated learning tool available to everyone in my class.

My Project

Our current classroom technology allows us to streamline clips of related material using my computer and the LCD. We can display and utilize other tools through the use of my document camera. But these items are the limited extent of our teaching technology. What is needed are self-contained teaching applications, that reinforce newly learned skills, through the use of a hands-on interactive process. Practicing recently learned skills is a critical component in effective retention. The student Ipod Touch technology fulfills this need by freeing the student from time-consuming work sheets, providing subject specific learning applications, automatic self-correcting feedback options, and the potential of measuring the student's comprehension of previously learned material.

One of our district's goals is to improve the learning for each individual student through the use of evidence.

We also strive to focus instruction on attainment of the state standards in the context of higher level mind work. Having an iPod Touch at their fingertips, my students will be provided with individual reinforcement of the state standards using interactive and highly motivating technology.
