My Students

I teach fifth grade reading in one of the best rural schools in Oklahoma. My students are a diverse group with varied levels of learning. Our classroom is a space where students enjoy coming to learn. We are a Title I school with the majority of our students receiving free lunch.

These students have huge hearts and love to learn in non-traditional ways, such as room transformations, integrating the arts into our lessons, and project-based learning.

My students have curiosity, creativity, compassion, and positive attitudes. They are truly amazing people. My school is wonderfully supportive of the active hands-on learning that we do in our classroom. I couldn't ask for a better learning environment for these students. We are truly a community!

My Project

In my classroom I strive to utilize materials that are strategic and engaging for my students. As a Reading Specialist and teacher, it is my job to provide meaningful materials that will motivate my students. It is also my job to play the role of an interventionist and help our struggling readers.

When we utilize materials that are fun and bring joy to reading, my students are more focused and more motivated to become life long readers.

Providing students with these fun games, and exciting materials will help motivate my students to enjoy the process of learning to become a skilled reader. We will use the Lakeshore Fluency games, Partner Scripts, Grammar, Writing, and Vocabulary games and the complete set of Language Quickies games on a daily basis to help our reading skills.
