This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
My classroom walls and shelves are not bare, but they could be more heavily decorated!
With that said, I am seeking a bevy of classroom decorations featuring classic authors to help inspire my students both to read more and to write endlessly.
Especially with Black History Month not too far in our rear view mirror (and the fact that I try and make EVERY month Black History Month in my classroom), I am seeking decorations featuring prominent African American authors to match the African American authors I teach in my curriculum (so that students can put a face and bio to the name and the writing).
Same with Dostoevsky, an author I assign to my AP Literature students...they LOVE reading THE GAMBLER! And Hitchcock (I try and show PSYCHO every Halloween... then steer my students towards Robert Bloch's book, of which I have a class set).
I teach so much varied literature (from writers of all different walks of life) in my classroom, that I would like the walls and shelves of my classroom to reflect this diversity.
