My Students
"Teacher, when is it time for art?" My students live for art projects! I believe students learn better when they are allowed to express themselves artistically.
I am a fourth grade teacher teaching at a Title I school in Utah.
I teach students who are learning English as a second language as well as English speaking students. My students are from a small rural area with a high poverty rate, with the student population being largely Hispanic.
My Project
My students are in need of various art supplies to complete their art projects. Arts-integrated learning experiences enable children to develop many varied skills and understandings about the world around them. The art resources I need, such as modeling clay and glaze, shrink paper, sand, and tissue paper will supply my students with the tools they need to create their own art projects.
Research has shown that certain art activities promote growth in positive social skills, including self-confidence, conflict resolution, self control and social tolerance.
Art in school promotes positive feelings about learning which will carry over to their feelings of school in general. Your help will ensure that my students have the art experiences they need to create a positive feeling about school and to promote growth in positive social skills.
